Chelsea striker suffered rib injury last night
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed striker Diego Costa is in hospital after suffering a rib injury during the club’s defeat to Stoke City last night.
The Blues were eliminated from the Capital One Cup at the Britannia Stadium after losing on penalties, but it was a short-night for Costa, who was subbed off in the first-half.
Speaking after the game, Mourinho admitted it was a rib injury and that the Spaniard is now in hospital getting checked up.
The Chelsea boss confirmed that he doesn’t know about the striker’s availability for Saturday.
Costa Update
“He is in hospital – but I don’t know what the situation is,” said Mourinho.
“Is he a doubt to face Liverpool? I don’t know.
“How did the injury happen? I think he punched himself.”
