Argentinian ready to quit the club at the end of the season

Diego Simeone is ready to leave La Liga side Atletico Madrid at the end of the season, according to reports.

It’s news that will put Premier League side Chelsea on red-alert as they plan to prepare for life after Jose Mourinho, with the Portuguese on the brink of being sacked.

Chelsea lost again last night in the league, this time 1-0 away at Stoke City, and it’s a result that leaves them 16th after 12 games played.

According to reports this morning, Roman Abramovich is ready to pull the trigger on Mourinho and is ready to part-ways with him, and he could be boosted with the news that Simeone could be available come the summer.

Simeone On the Radar

Simeone is one name on Abramovich‘s list, but he was put off by the mega compensation fee he would have had to pay Atletico, but with reports suggesting this is his last year at the club, he could bring him to Stamford Bridge for free.

Despite having a contract until 2020 with the La Liga side, Simeone has a clause in it which means he is able to terminate it if he wants too.

It’s believed Brendan Rodgers could become an interim manager from now until the end of the season, with Simeone then taking over permanently.
