Stoke City steward makes complaint about Chelsea striker

Chelsea star Diego Costa has been accused of assault by a Stoke City steward following the Blues’ 1-0 loss at the Britannia Stadium last night.

According to the steward, the incident happened halfway through the second-half when the striker was trying to retrieve the ball from near the corner flag.

Costa was visibly angered up during the encounter, and he had several anxious moments when he confronted Stoke‘s defenders, however, he seemingly kept his cool throughout the game.

That said, a steward from the game reported the Spaniard to the match officials and accused him of assault.

Past Incidents

Costa does have a past with violence and has already received a three-match ban this season for his incidents against Arsenal involving Gabriel Paulista and Laurent Koscielny.

An ITV Sport presenter, called Sam Matterface, tweeted out about the incident and claimed Chelsea would seek footage.

Matterface said: “A steward has reported Diego Costa to the ref for “assault”. Chelsea don’t believe it is, looks innocuous on the video.”
