Bulgarian offered his services to former-club over the summer
Dimitar Berbatov offered his services to Manchester United over the summer, but had his offer turned down by Louis van Gaal.
The Bulgarian was a free agent after agreeing to leave Ligue 1 side AS Monaco, and after talks broke down with Aston Villa, Berbatov reportedly offered his services to his former-club.
Berbatov was interested in a shock return to Old Trafford, and with United short in the striker department with Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie leaving, he thought he’d make a good addition to Van Gaal‘s side.
Offer Rejected
However, the 34-year-old was not considered by the Dutchman and was told no about a potential return.
At the end of the transfer window, United signed teenage striker Anthony Martial from Monaco, who has gone on to score three goals in just two Premier League games.
As for Berbatov, he eventually signed a contract with Greek side PAOK.
