Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has rubbished claims saying that they are third favourites to win the league and the Frenchman is confident that the side is good enough to win the Premier League yet again.
Last season, The Red Devils stormed to the title with thanks to new signing Robin Van Persie and eventually ended up winning the title by 11 points, but with Sir Alex Ferguson retiring this summer. many people believe that United will struggle to be as dominant.
However, the players put that to bed on Saturday as they thrashed Swansea City 4-1 at the Liberty Stadium thanks to braces from Van Persie and Danny Welbeck.
Speaking to MUTV, Evra believes everyone writes United off every season, but he believes they are foolish to do so and he insists they are just as strong this year as they were last year.
‘It is not just this season,’ he told MUTV. ‘It is every year.
‘I have been here eight years now and every year people say we are going to finish fourth or fifth in the league. It is unbelievable.’
‘The way we are working we feel good,’ he said.
‘But the result is not a message for our opponents. It is a message to trust what are doing with this new manager, trust the way we want to play and the way he wants to win. That is it.
‘The message is for us, for ourselves and the Manchester United fans.
‘I always say the biggest opponent for Manchester United is Manchester United. Every year I play for this club I will say the same.’
