Dzeko – Chelsea aren’t that big a threat

Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko has brushed off suggestions that the Premier League title is already on it’s way to Stamford Bridge.

The Bosnian forward said that the Blues are ‘no more a threat this season than Liverpool were last term’.

Liverpool crashed to a 2-0 home defeat to Chelsea last season, and followed up by blowing a three goal lead at Crystal Palace. These results helped City steal the title last term.

But both City and Liverpool have struggled for form this time round, while Chelsea are storming ahead, unbeaten in their 11 league games so far.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger stated over the weekend that the title is Chelsea’s to lose, and they could even reach 100 points.

But Dzeko remains confident that City can turn their season around and catch Jose Mourinho’s side.

He said: “I think last season, Liverpool was in front of us just a few games before the end, so it’s different being behind in the last five, six games than after just 10 games.

“It will definitely be Chelsea who are the main threat to us winning the league.

“They’re playing good, but there’s still so many games to play, and they will drop points like we did.”
