Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has admitted that Summer signing Erik Lamela is struggling with life in England because he cannot understand the language.
The former-AS Roma man cost Spurs £30million, but is yet to feature in the Premier League because of his problems with life in his new environment and his manager has admitted that he is struggling with the change and that is why he has not been featured.
There has been questions raised over Lamela’s price-tag, but Villas-Boas has denied that is the reason behind him struggling.
‘Not really, no,’ Boas answered.
‘We have been speaking a lot with him. I think getting acquainted to the Premier League is important but he doesn’t know the language. [Roberto] Soldado had some knowledge of the language before (he came) so it was a little bit easier for him.
‘With Erik it was a little bit more difficult but we have given him massive, massive help and his family arrived this week,’ he added.
‘He knows he isn’t producing half of what he can produce but he understands the situation now is that he has to compete for his place.’
