Manchester United will have to cope without Andre Onana in January.

The Cameroonian goalkeeper is expected to participate in the forthcoming AFCON in Ivory Coast next month.

Onana has endured a tricky start at Old Trafford and conceded an eye-watering 41 goals in just 26 games.

The goalkeeper would miss a few weeks of Premier League action depending on how Cameroon does in the competition.

This would mean that second-choice goalkeeper Altay Bayindir will replace the 27-year-old in the United team.

Onana is worried that he will lose his place in United’s starting XI during the AFCON if he were to represent his country.

But manager Erik ten Hag is certainly not worried with the Cameroonian’s absence in January.

“I am quite comfortable with the fact. First of all, Andre Onana, in the Premier League has performed very well, and at Anfield, it was a great performance from him,” the Dutchman said to the Manchester Evening News.

“When he is going there, I think we have a strong couple of keepers with Bayindir and Tom Heaton so we are comfortable. Of course, we are hoping Onana is available as much as possible. But if not, we have two good keepers who can replace him.”
