Phil Foden can establish himself as the future of English football according to Rio Ferdinand.
Rio Ferdinand hailed the phenomenal Phil Foden for his awestruck performance in recent games.
The 20-year old has been involved in 13 goals in his last 17 games and has taken his game to another level of late.
Rio Ferdinand has full of heaps of praise for the England international and deems the midfielder as the future of the English football. He believes that Foden already looks like a ‘senior player’ at this early stage of his career.
‘This kid is a phenomenal talent and we have waited a long time for him to come into the fold,’ Ferdinand told BT Sport.
‘There was talk about him going out on loan but he is now coming in and scoring goals. He is everything that Pep Guardiola was trusting in.
‘He drives at the heart of the opposition and that creates havoc. He plays through the eye of a needle.
‘He is a beautiful player and one I believe England have been crying out for many years. This kid is the locksmith, he can unlock teams.
‘He is a fantastic player, a great player who could represent the future of English football.’
Former Newcastle United star Jermaine Jenas said that England has been desperate for years for a player like Foden.
‘He doesn’t get the credit he deserves for other elements of his game,’ he said.
‘He sees things other people can’t see. The energy he brings to the table for that City team is amazing. It is something Pep is going to continually ask of him.
‘For England fans and us as former players, it is so exciting to see. We have been desperate for a player like him for years.
