He becomes the Gunners’ second summer signing
Arsenal have today confirmed the signing of Japan international centre forward Takuma Asano from J-League side Sanfrecce Hiroshima.
Details of Asano’s fee and his contract will be released after he officially becomes an Arsenal player, which could be as soon as today providing he passes his medical and the paperwork is processed correctly.
However, Asano could miss the start of the Premier League season if he commits to playing for Japan in up and coming Olympic Games in Rio.
His international duties in Brazil would mean that the earliest he could return to England is August 10, but if Japan reach the final he will only be able to return on August 20.
Asano becomes Arsene Wenger’s second summer signing after midfielder Granit Xhaka moved to the Emirates Stadium before Euro 2016.
