PREVIEW: Leicester City vs Arsenal

The top two clubs in the Premier League in 2015/16 do battle this evening, both teams looking to bounce back from disappointing opening weekend defeats.

The last time the top two lost on the opening day of the following season was back in 1953/54.

Champions Leicester City are still adjusting to life without N’Golo Kante, sold to Chelsea, and they became the first Premier League champions to lose their opening game of the following season with their 2-1 defeat to Hull City.

Arsenal were involved in the most exciting opening weekend game, a thrilling 4-3 defeat to Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium. After taking the lead, they fell 4-1 behind before pulling back to 4-3.

The Gunners were the only side to beat the Foxes at the King Power Stadium last season, 5-2. Alexis Sanchez weighed in with a hat-trick in that game, one of four PL trebles achieved by Arsenal against Leicester. The others were by Dennis Bergkamp, Nicolas Anelka and Thierry Henry.

Arsenal’s record against Leicester in the Premier League is impressive, with 13 wins and six draws from nineteen meetings.

Claudio Ranieri looks for his 100th Premier League victory as a manager today.

Team News

The Foxes will have a fully-fit squad to pick from, as Claudio Ranieri looks to get his side back to winning ways. Robert Huth is available after a three-match ban.

Arsenal have defensive problems, and Laurent Koscielny may be gambled despite not being fully fit. Aaron Ramsey and Alex Iwobi are both injured, with hamstring and thigh problems respectively, and both could miss at least three weeks of action.
