Cesc Fabregas is hoping to remain at Chelsea for the rest of the season.
Opportunities have been very limited for the Spanish international this term who has seen himself falling down in the pecking order following the arrival of Maurizio Sarri. Sarri has mostly preferred N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Ross Barkley and Mateo Kovacic in the midfield so Fabregas does have to fight for his place if he decides to stay at the Stamford Bridge.
The 32 year old’s current contract is due to expire at the end of the season and he will be free to negotiate a pre-contract with any club from January 1. The Premier League winner has been linked with a number of clubs but he is unlikely to exit the West London outfit.
Fabregas said, “No, I haven’t spoken to anyone.
“Obviously in January I can sign (a pre-contract agreement) with whoever I want and probably this will attract many clubs.
“But so far, from what I can say right now, yes I will stay here until the end of the season.
“I play at Stamford Bridge, I’m happy. That’s the most important thing. But of course every player wants to play more.”
