Belgian striker Eden Hazard has played a key role in Chelsea’s success this season, finding the net 14 times as the Blues close in on the Premier League title.
And his goalscoring exploits have not gone unnoticed. Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has hailed Hazard as the best player in the whole league.
Lampard is Chelsea’s all-time record goalscorer, with 211 strikes in all competitions in a glittering 13-year career in West London. The 38-year-old heaped praise on Hazard, who also has five assists to his name this term.
“Hazard is the best player in the league for me at the moment,” Lampard told Sky Sports. “The composure, the ability, Eden Hazard is just playing with ease & confidence at the minute.
“For me there’s a new maturity about Hazard this year. Not just on the pitch, but off the pitch.
‘When you become a player at the level he’s at – he’s captained Belgium a couple of time. There were times last year where he was so confident in his ability that he’d beat someone twice.
“Now there’s a real directness to Hazard’s play. He’s more efficient. He’s getting in areas to make goals & score goals.”
Chelsea are seven points clear at the top of the Premier League title, and coming up for them is a reunion with their former manager Jose Mourinho when they take on Manchester United.
