Leboeuf: Mourinho has lost the dressing room

Former France defender feels ‘third-season syndrome’ has set in

Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf believes Jose Mourinho has “lost the dressing room”, as Chelsea’s poor form continues.

Mourinho is in his third season of his second spell at Stamford Bridge, currently with 11 points from 12 games and 16th in the Premier League, and Lebouef has put that down to a long-standing record.

“One gets the impression he has lost the dressing room,” said Lebouef.

“That means, as usual, he has not been able to progress in the third year.”

Testing Abramovich’s patience

With Chelsea’s title defence all but over, Blues owner Roman Abramovich is becoming increasingly impatient to see an upturn in results, with Chelsea’s last win coming in the Champions League, at home to Dynamo Kiev.

Mourinho has not spent much more than three years at one club, and the Blues’ current form suggests he wont last much longer in west London either.

Following back-to-back titles with Porto, his side fell short in their third season, while the Portuguese resigned before his third campaign with Inter Milan and struggled similarly with Real Madrid.

Chelsea looked to have turned a corner when they secured a 2-0 victory over relegation-threatened Aston Villa last month, but have lost their last three games in the Premier League.

Mourinho’s future at the Bridge is coming under further scrutiny and looks increasingly likely that his time with the Blues will end on a sour note.
