New signing concedes he might not play every game

New Manchester United signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan has admitted he knows that he won’t play every game under Jose Mourinho at his new club.

The Red Devils signed the Armenian from Borussia Dortmund for a reported ÂŁ28m fee on a four-year deal.

But Mkhitaryan believes the strength of the United squad means he will have to be accepting of a place on the bench sometimes.

“It doesn’t matter if they buy me for, I don’t know, ÂŁ38m or ÂŁ40m, I am not guaranteed to play the games,” he told the Manchester Evening News.

“So I am trying to do my best during the training to earn this place to play and then we will see, because I don’t think I will play every game, depending on the tactical situation, depending on the opponent.

“But I will do everything to try and help the team.”

Mkhitaryan also thinks the pressure of playing at Old Trafford can help him reach the next level as a player.

“I never promise something, I always say that I will try,” he added.

He made his debut against Wigan in a friendly a couple of weeks ago, in Mourinho’s first game. He earned plenty of praise for a good performance against the Latics.

He was also in sensational form for Dortmund last season, scoring 23 goals and providing 32 assists in all competitions.
