Van Gaal hints United future is in doubt


Mourinho is being tipped to succeed the Dutchman

Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal denied the chance to confirm his future at Old Trafford at Wembley on Saturday.

The 64-year-old saw his side claim an injury-time winner to send the Red Devils to the FA Cup final, ahead of Everton.

But, despite the Dutchman leading United to the final of English football’s oldest competition, he failed to confirm he will be at the club next season.

“I am not looking beyond this competition. For the future I will discuss that with the board.” said Van Gaal.

“I have always said that I expect to be here next year, but that is for the board of Manchester United to decide.”

Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly agreed and signed a deal to take over at United, but an announcement from the club is expected in a couple of weeks time.

But Van Gaal still believes he is the right man for the job, despite United’s chances of qualifying for the Champions League looking very slim. They are currently five points short of fourth-placed Arsenal, with a game in hand.

“I believe I am the right man for this very special football club.” Van Gaal admitted.

“The squad has a great valuation now and I share  the drive of this club to bring some silverware back for the fans.”
