Arsenal attacker is a target for FC Lille with the Ligue 1 outfit

Opportunities for first team football with the Gunners have been scare for the France Under 21 international with Lille keen to offer the forward game time.

French magazine Le10Sport reported that Lille have launched a formal enquiry into the Frenchman’s services with Arsene Wenger said to be mulling over the offer.

Since joining from Auxerre in 2013 Sanogo’s Arsenal career has been hampered by injuries and the player has since slid down the pecking order at the North London side.

Fifth Choice Forward

Sanogo is now Arsenal’s fifth choice striker- behind Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck and with Arsenal looking to strengthen in the offensive area, Wenger may be willing to offload the Frenchman.

The Frenchman spent last season out on loan at Premier League side Crystal Palace, but failed to impress at Selhurst Park and is likely to return to the Emirates Stadium over the summer.

A move to Lille may be a perfect fit for Sanogo with the Ligue 1 side seeking to add vital goals to their impotent front line which managed 43 league goals last term and the 22-year-old looking to rediscover his form shown for Auxerre.

Wenger may be willing to capitalise on Lille’s interest by sacrificing the player to free up space in his squad for a new addition.
