Chelsea are preparing a summer move for Toby Alderweireld.
The 26-year old is currently on loan to Southampton from Atletico Madrid, where he has impressed with some good performances for the St Mary’s side this season.
He has now caught the eye of Jose Mourinho, who will look to strengthen his back line with a move for the Belgian in summer.
Arsenal also plotting move
Even better for the Special One is that reports are claiming Alderweireld will only return to La Liga if he is a guaranteed starter for Atletico Madrid, something which manager Diego Simeone has yet to promise.
The Gunners have also been tracking his progress but interest from them have waned, leaving the Blues to swoop in and secure a deal.
Of course Chelsea already have a decent defensive line, with the likes of John Terry, Gary Cahill and Kurt Zouma already plying their trade at Stamford Bridge.
However, Mourinho is keen to add to that by signing Alderweireld, who could cost just £9.5m.
