Gunners set to beat Premier League rivals to William Carvalho
Arsenal are willing to use Joel Campbell as bait, to land long-term Sporting Lisbon target, William Carvalho, in order to fund a deal in the summer.
Campbell, who has spent several spells away from the Emirates Stadium on-loan in recent seasons, could be set for a permanent move to Lisbon, with the Costa Rica forward currently out at Spanish side, Villarreal.
According to the London Evening Standard, Arsene Wenger is considering whether to use Campbell as bait to land Sporting midfielder, William Carvalho.
Carvalho’s English dream
The 23-year-old, who is an international for Portugal, has been a target for Manchester United, and recently admitted his desire to play in the English top-flight.
“My dream is to play in England,” Carvalho, who has a reported valuation of £21.5million, said back in January.
“I know some clubs are interested but my agent is looking after it and I am relaxed.
“Now my mission is to work in Sporting and they will be in charge of any transfer and my future. That is very important.”
