Enrique says defeat was undeserved

Spain boss Luis Enrique has said that his team did not deserve the 32 defeat to Croatia last night. Croatia defeated Spain 3-2 at Zagreb last night to keep their Nations League hopes alive. Andrej Kramaric gave Croatia the lead before Dani Ceballos got the equaliser. Tin Jedvaj scored his first international goal to restore the lead for Croatia. However, a Sergio Ramos penalty drew Spain level.

During the dying moments of the match, Jedvaj scored his second of the match to win it for Croatia. Spain end their group stage with 6 points and are certain of remaining in League A of next edition’s Nations League. However, their hopes of qualifying for the Nations League Finals hang in the balance. If there is a winner in Sunday’s match between England and Croatia, then Spain won’t be able to qualify.

Enrique said that he was unhappy with the ‘undeserved’ result but was happy with his team’s performance. The Spain manager said, “I am quite happy with this match, the result is undeserved. The group was, as we expected, very difficult with two of the best teams in the world.”

Spain’s next match is a friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina at Las Palmas. Bosnia and Herzegovina are currently enjoying a 9-match unbeaten run and confirmed their promotion to League A of the 2020-21 Nations League by drawing 0-0 against Austria.
