Diego Costa has officially left Atletico Madrid.
The Brazil born Spanish striker has had an upsetting, entertaining and tumbling career. He came through with the big ranks with Atletico under Simeone as he helped them win a title over Real Madrid and Barcelona back in 2013-14.
It led to him being signed by Chelsea where he won the league twice and was prolific with the Blues. However, a fall out with Antonio Conte saw him frozen out of the first team. It led to Atletico signing him back for almost double the money Chelsea spent on him.
At Atletico, he played some great matches next time as well but has fallen down the pecking order over time. Injuries, lack of rhythm and now fall out with the management team means that Atletico and Diego Costa are walking different routes.
Atletico Madrid have now confirmed on their official Twitter source that he will be leaving the club. The club has confirmed that the contract of Diego Costa has been terminated by mutual contract.
They have wished the player good luck. What it will mean is that Diego Costa will not be playing and returning to face Chelsea next to next month in the Champions League where Atletico Madrid take on Chelsea.
