Ronaldo slams his own manager

Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the top Man United transfer targets this summer in 2018.

Cristiano Ronaldo has cast fresh doubt on his Real Madrid future by criticising his manager Rafa Benitez, according to reports in Spain.

Portuguese superstar Ronaldo has been linked for some time with an emotional return to Manchester United, while Chelsea are also thought to be keen.

And hopes the Premier League pair of landing Ronaldo have taken a boost after talks between Ronaldo and Real president Florentino Perez.

El Confidencial claim that Ronaldo has told Perez: “With this coach, we will win nothing”.

However, United have been warned, from within, that it will be tough to bring Ronaldo back, and would be better going after his Real team-mate Gareth Bale.

United midfielder Juan Mata says it won’t  be easy to make the signing, while former Red Devils defender turned Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville reckons that Bale would be a better target.

Neville said: “I am not sure it is such a good thing for Cristiano to come back. The emotion says come back but do you remember when Newcastle used to bring back their old players to be manager?

“And then Liverpool started doing it and I thought ‘No. Let’s not start becoming a club like that’ and this kind of pining for the past. I don’t really want that.

“I’d prefer us to get Gareth Bale and that’s no disrespect to Cristiano who I think is possibly the biggest talent I have ever played with – not the best player I ever played with – but the biggest talent.

“He is an amazing player and what he did for two years at United was out of this world and it was a privilege to be part of it. But the idea of coming back as his swansong… it won’t be the same for him as it was before.”
