Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has revealed that he wanted to sign Robert Lewandowski and Paul Pogba for years now.
Madrid have long been linked to the Polish striker who has been one of the better players in Europe. However, Perez claims that Bayern never put him on the market and hence a move failed to transpire. Similarly for Pogba, who made it clear he wants out of Manchester United this summer, Madrid failed to get him due to United’s unwillingness to sell.
“There are players who do not sell,” he said, via Spanish media. “For Lewandowski, we have gone for several years for him and nothing because he has no clause and they don’t sell him. There is no way and that has happened to us with Pogba. When certain players are sold, we can go for them.”
Now that issues of Pogba and Lewa seem to have taken a back seat, Perez is definitely plotting new moves. One such player who is high on not just Madrid but every team’s radar is Mbappe. Speaking of Mbappe, Perez appeared coy. “Of course we like a Frenchman that they say out there and we’ll go for him,” he said. “But they don’t sell him.”
