Footballing god wants playmaker at Nou Camp
Brazilian legend Ronaldinho has urged Barcelona to sign Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho, as a replacement for Xavi.
Coutinho has been the driving force for the Reds this season, with 35 Premier League appearances and a nomination for the PFA Player of the Year.
However, Liverpool have struggled this term, ending up 25 points below champions Chelsea and missing out on a Champions League spot.
Xavi is leaving the Nou Camp after 17 glorious years, heading to Al-Sadd in the Qatar Stars League.
Ronaldinho, who starred alongside Xavi for Barcelona between 2003 and 2008, has urged his old club to go after Coutinho.
Ronaldinho wants Coutinho
He said: “I can’t speak for him and I can’t speak for Barcelona – but I know what Barcelona look for in a player and he has all those qualities.
“After all those years at the club Xavi has left and Iniesta is now in his 30’s – they will need to address that. That is why I think Barcelona and Coutinho would be the perfect fit.
“Playing with great players makes you better, I know that. Not only would he win trophies with Barcelona, but playing with Neymar, Messi, Suarez, Iniesta, is going to make him a better player.”
