Citizens close to landing Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Manchester City are closing in on a deal for FC Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, according to reports.

The German international is reportedly unsettled at the Nou Camp and is considering his long-term future ahead of the summer transfer window.

Ter Stegen has been seen as a back-up option to Claudio Bravo throughout the season, only playing in cup matches, meaning his first-team game-time is limited.

With the goalkeeper reportedly unhappy and unsettled, he has been linked with a transfer to the Premier League, with both Liverpool and Manchester City interested in signing him.

City Closing In

However, reports emerged late last night that City are closing in on a deal for the German, which could cost them around ÂŁ20million.

City are to be taken over by Pep Guardiola in the summer, with Manuel Pellegrini stepping aside, and it looks like the ‘keeper could be his first official signing at the Etihad Stadium.

The news will come as a massive blow to Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp had identified Ter Stegen as a suitable replacement for Simon Mignolet.
