N’Golo Kante happy with new attacking role at Chelsea

Chelsea claimed all three points with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday. The Blues dominated the game right from the kick-off but they had to wait until the second half to break the deadlock.

Both the goal and the assist came from unlikely sources, David Luiz putting the ball inside the penalty area for N’Golo Kante to get on the end of it and the Frenchman obliged with a fine finish to seal all three points.

And Kante has dismissed speculations that he is unhappy with his current attacking role at Chelsea under Maurizio Sarri. The Frenchman has already netted thrice in the Premier League this term, including the opener in the 2-0 triumph over Manchester City last month.

But he insists that could not be further from the truth.

“[This role] is something I am enjoying and in a game, I try to make that run sometimes,” Kanté told Chelsea’s official website.

“David [Luiz] gave me a good ball and I am happy to score with my left foot and give something to the team.

“Crystal Palace had a great game defensively, but we kept the pressure on, kept the ball and were happy to score in the second half. It was very difficult at the end of the game but we were able to fight and get the win.”

Luiz, meanwhile, said: “It’s the connection, training together every day, understanding the philosophy and trying to improve.”

“I just tried to put the ball with the timing for N’Golo to arrive and try to score, that’s it.”
