According to One Football, Lazio and Inter Milan are leading the pack for Manchester United’s Matteo Darmian.
The 29-year-old fell out of the Red Devils’ rotation long time back and is in the final year of his contract. Neither Ole Gunnar Solskjaer nor the Manchester United board has offered Darmian a new deal.
It is pretty much set that the former Italian international will be leaving Old Trafford after this season. Lazio and Inter can approach him for a pre-contractual agreement this January but are willing to activate a transfer.
That could prevent bidding wars later on and United have set an asking price of only €7m.
Darmian was signed by Louis Van Gaal in the summer of 2015 from Torino FC. At the time, the Italian was a leading defensive figure in the Serie A and in the senior national team as well.
The 29-year-old has 36 caps to his name for Italy, including selections into the 2014 FIFA World Cup and 2016 Euro Cup squads.
However, after Van Gaal’s sacking, Darmian could never make the cut under Jose Mourinho and only managed 4 games in the entire year of 2018. He is well behind Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young, Diogo Dalot in the pecking order and might just be ready for a change.
