Antonio Conte wants Tottenham Hotspur to sign Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips
Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte wants to buy Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips during the summer transfer window. They are setting the groundwork for a summer revamp in order to improve the squad’s quality.
Conte has made a number of transfer requests on Tottenham ahead of the next season. He is hoping to convert his side into trophy rivals this summer which has motivated him to take this position. His demands include the acquisition of two midfielders, and Phillips is one such target being pursued by the manager.
The Italian boss is a big fan of the Englishman and wants Spurs to complete a deal for the midfielder. However, it is unclear whether Daniel Levy will participate in a transfer squabble with Manchester United.
Even with the addition of Rodrigo Bentancur, Spurs have only four midfielders in their roster, which is insufficient for a long season. Furthermore, if Spurs qualify for the Champions League, they will need a healthy number of options to meet the increased demands.
As a result, it’s logical that Conte wants to bring in two additional midfielders. Phillips, who is under contract at Elland Road until 2024, is an excellent pick for the North Londoners, who are trying to satisfy UEFA’s homegrown player criterion.
