Tottenham Hotspur keeping tabs on Atletico Madrid centre-back Mario Hermoso
Tottenham Hotspur are keeping an eye on Atletico Madrid’s Mario Hermoso ahead of the summer transfer season. He has been out of favour since January, when he was hampered by injuries and the arrival of Reinildo.
Last summer, Hermoso was linked with a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur. They are looking for a left-sided center-back, which has led to them following him at the present. Alessandro Bastoni of Inter Milan and Josko Gvardiol of RB Leipzig are also on their transfer wish list.
Atleti are thought to be open to listen to bids from Hermoso for the proper transfer fee. Spurs would have to make a proposal after examining his contract at Wanda Metropolitano, which runs until 2024. Having said that, he is well regarded.
This season, the 26-year-old has two goals and an assist in 32 games across all competitions.
We’ve already seen how Antonio Conte has helped out-of-favour players like Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur become important players for us. Both weren’t making headlines at Juventus, but they’ve been on fire for us since the winter transfer window closed.
Signing a left centre-back would be a must, given how Ben Davies is filling in as a last-minute replacement for us. He’s done okay so far, but it would be safer for us if a natural center-back played there. Hermoso might be that man, but it will be fascinating to see whether an agreement can be reached.
