Ex-Liverpool boss reveals attempts to sign United player in one of last ever interviews
Brendan Rodgers has revealed Liverpool held talks to sign Memphis Depay.
The Dutchman was in the center of a 3 way transfer battle at the end of last season, between Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United. United ultimately won in the end.
But in one of his final interviews before being given the boot by FSG, the Northern Irishman revealed he did hold talks with Memphis.
He told Dutch magazine Voetbal International: “PSV had given us permission to have conversations with him.
“Apart from a huge talent, he came across as a good boy to me, but Liverpool were looking for a central striker and Memphis, until then, had primarily played as a left winger.”
