Sources from Munich, Germany seems to have all but confirmed Bayern’s open pursuit of Manchester City winger Leroy Sane.
Multiple German pundits, former Bayern players, current Germany coach; everyone is pushing Sane to make the move as they see it being a perfect fit for the German winger.
Sane is an incredibly talented young winger with a bright future. However, at Manchester City, Sane has failed to shine under Pep Guardiola. The player is clearly not developed enough yet mentally to play to Guardiola’s tight system where discipline comes first.
Hence it has seen Sane get dropped from the team more often than not and replaced by Bernardo Silva, Riyadh Mahrez and Raheem Sterling in the wings. A player of his stature clearly hates so much time on the bench, even if it is in a typical multi-starring Pep Guardiola team.
And now Lothar Matthaus, has asked City also to go ahead with the deal as he believes it will be a win for all parties.
“A player who, in my eyes, will enchant the Bayern fans next year is Leroy Sane. I am sure he will move to Munich,” Matthaus wrote in a column for Sky.
“If [Bayern president] Uli Hoeness publicly reveals that it makes an effort for the player, this lands in the vast majority of cases in Bavaria.
“And it would be a fantastic transfer, as Sane is one of the best wingers out there. Tricky, dangerous for goal, fast, usable on both wings and provided with a great future.
“[Pep] Guardiola is not really satisfied with him, the player wants to play more regularly and Bayern looks for the departure of [Arjen] Robben and [Franck] Ribery at least one man for the wing. It would be a win-win transfer for all parties.”
