From one of the main target men to an unwanted man real quick.
Croatia international Mario Mandzukic could be set to continue his career elsewhere but not in Italy.
After being left out of Juventus’ Champions League squad for the upcoming season, Mandzukic was omitted from the squad for the weekend’s fixture against Fiorentina amid rumors that he is set to leave the club.
The 33-year-old striker, who famously took Croatia to the World Cup final when he scored in extra-time against England, reportedly turned down an offer Qatari side Al-Gharafa before the close of the transfer window. That chance has again opened, as he is now reportedly in advanced talks with an MLS club and a Qatari club.
The transfer window in Qatar remains open and it looks like Mandzukic’s and according to Corriere dello Sport, it is a done deal. According to the report, his agents will meet up with Juventus in Turin very soon.
However, on the contrary, Sky Italy say that the Los Angeles FC are also in advanced negotiations with the Juventus star. In spite of the Qatar offer, but it would appear that the 33-year-old feels he still has more to give in a more competitive league.
The official transfer window in the MSL is from 9 July – 7 August, but according to FIFA rules, a MLS club could request an international certificate (ICT) to realize a transfer or loan deal outside that period.
