Or they could just pay the fine.

Spanish FA sources confirm the two possible punishments for the La Liga side for their allegedly irregular signing of Griezmann.

Barcelona could reportedly be facing the shock threat of having their home ground the Nou Camp closed for one game as punishment over their summer transfer window signing of Antoine Griezmann.

They were investigated after the Frenchman’s former club Atletico Madrid filed a complaint to the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), accusing the Catalans of entering negotiations with the 2018 World Cup winner, while he was still under contract at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Atletico claim Barcelona entered negotiations with Griezmann back when his buy-out clause was still €200 million. As of 1 July, his release clause was reduced to €120 million and he eventually left on 12 July.

The standard punishment for such an offence is a fine of just €300, but according to Spanish outlet El Mundo, the experienced sports law judge handling the case, Juantxo Landaberea has suggested that the Blaugrana should also be forced to close Camp Nou for one La Liga match.

It is now up to the RFEF’s Competition Committee to decide whether to enact Landaberea’s recommendation, but AS report that representatives from the Spanish FA have informed them it is probably unlikely to happen. That means Barca are set to escape with just a silly €300 fine for contravening articles 88 and 126 of the Spanish Football Federation’s Disciplinary Code.
