 Jermain Defoe has agreed to join Sunderland in a £14million pound after 11 months playing for MLS side Toronto.

Defoe who scored 11 goals in his first 16 games for the club had decided on a possible move back to the Premier League after reports he had fallen out with the Club.

Defoe is set to sign a huge £80,000-a-week deal which will see him at the Stadium of Light for 3 and half years.

It was claimed Defoe was hoping to return to Tottenham which is where he has been training for the last month or maybe a possible move to Anfield.

Numerous English clubs including the likes of Villa and Hull were all reportedly keen on signing the 32 year old but it seems that Sunderland’s offer was just too good to turn down.

Hull Boss Steve Bruce has spoken on the possible move on Defoe and had this to say;

‘I, like Tony Pulis (of West Bromwich Albion) and Nigel Pearson (of Leciester City) and all the people, would like a Jermain Defoe. The numbers might cause a problem. It might be just beyond us.

 ‘The one thing you don’t want to do is gamble. We’ve seen all sorts of clubs get into a financial mess by pushing the boat out. But if there’s someone who can make a difference I’ll be knocking the door down like I always have done.

‘We’ve got to get an individual who can make a difference.

Defoe is expected to make his debut on Saturday against Tottenham.
