Liverpool’s on loan striker Fabio Borini is hoping for some luck after an injury plauged first season back in the Premier League.

The young Italian cost Brendan Rodgers ÂŁ10.5m in summer 2012 and admits, “Last season was tough. Mostly because of the injuries, not the move.”

Despite a promising start to his Anfield career, scoring his first goal for Liverpool in an early Europa League tie against FC Gomel, Borini was ruled out for 3 months with a broken foot. The forward then suffered a dislocated shoulder in February and despite initially being ruled out for the remained of the season, he returned ahead of schedule and scored his first Premier League goal in an impressive 6-0 win over Newcastle.

As a result of Liverpool’s activity in the most recent transfer market, the Italian had found himself out of favour at Liverpool. “I wanted to prove myself at Liverpool last season and I couldn’t really do it. I’ve come here (Sunderland) to do that now.”

The most important thing now for Borini is to stay fit for a full season, with Liverpool and Sunderland fans alike looking on with interest.
