Footballing legend Zinedine Zidane believes it would be a massive shame if Liverpool didn’t win this year’s Premier League title, especially as it’s one trophy yet to be won by captain Steven Gerrard.
Now a coach at Real Madrid, Zidane was asked about the title race in England and the Frenchman believes it would be a massive shame if Gerrard didn’t win a Premier League trophy before his career ended.
“He has had a great career winning many things – but it would be a big shame for him if he was never to win the league with Liverpool,” he said.
“For everything that he has given – he deserves a league title.
“He could have played for any team in Europe, but he turned them down. That sort of loyalty should be rewarded with a title.”
With the season nearing it’s conclusion, Liverpool are two points ahead of Chelsea at the top of the table, and six points ahead of Manchester City, who dropped points last night at home to Sunderland.
