Ex-Arsenal, Chelsea and England left-back Ashley Cole has signed for Los Angeles Galaxy.

Cole, fresh off being released by Roma in Italy, joins his former England colleague Steven Gerrard, and Irish striker Robbie Keane at the StubHub Centre.

Cole, with 107 international caps to his name, was linked with a move to Manchester United, with Luke Shaw still on the sidelines through injury.

But the MLS club have signed the defender, subject to international and visa clearance.

Cole is a seven-time winner of the FA Cup, and is also a three-time Premier League winner.

“Ashley is one of the world’s most successful defenders and has played at the highest level of competition throughout his career,” said LA Galaxy Head Coach and General Manager Bruce Arena.

“He can provide our defence with valuable experience. We look forward to his contribution to our club this season.”

Cole was a part of the famous ‘Invincibles’ Arsenal squad that went the entire 2003-04 league season unbeaten, and is one of only two players who have won the Double of league an FA Cup with Nicolas Anelka.
