England manager Gareth Southgate feels Raheem Sterling is ready to justify his talent for England on the international platform.

Sterling recently signed a long term contract to renew his association with Manchester City. The youngster broke his shackles last season with his goalscoring record and this season he has already started to hit the ground.

The 23 year old had struggled to get into Pep Guardiola’s fluent system but after initial a few initial hiccups the forward seems to be relishing the opportunity and has already netted six times in the Premier League this campaign.

Sterling was also very impactful in England’s 3-2 win against Spain in the UEFA Nations League as the former Liverpool winger scored two in the proceedings.

Southgate said, “That (against Spain) was a big psychological barrier overcome and he has continued that form with his club over the last few weeks.

“We are really looking forward to seeing him again next week.

“I am really pleased for him because he is in outstanding form. He had an outstanding performance against Southampton. We have got huge belief in him and that belief in his own game is coming now.

“We have been happy with his performances for a long time and the missing piece has been the goals; you can see what it meant to him in Seville to get the goals which he has been overdue with us.

“In any sport, you’re at your best when you’re playing without thinking too much and that’s what he did.
