Yerry Mina has opened up on his Everton move and how Marco Silva influenced him to try his luck in the Premier League.
The Columbian international was the subject of interest from a number of clubs but decided to move to Everton and could be handed his first start when the Toffees travel to Chelsea on Sunday.
With Kurt Zouma unable to feature against his parent club the onus will be on Mina to stop the Blues juggernaut. The Merseysiders had a pretty eventful transfer window but they are yet to reach the level of the Premier League biggies and a win against Chelsea would settle things nicely for them.
Mina said, “I have always wanted to come and play in the Premier League and my agent was aware of that and kept me informed on interest.
“The main thing was during my time back home in the summer when I was during some fitness work after the World Cup I had conversations with the manager. He phoned me most days and was really keen for me to come and sign here.
“I am aware of the Premier League, I have watched it a lot from being a kid and I knew the importance of Everton in this league and the players that have passed through the club and played here.
“That was the idea I had in my head and when I get an idea in my head it’s hard for people to knock that idea out, so I was keen to come to Everton and here I am now.”
