Giorgio Chiellini disagrees with Luis Suarez ban

Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini has voiced his opinion regarding Luis Suarez’s ban after he bit the Italian during their important World Cup encounter.

After the two got in a tussle in the penalty area, Suarez decided to once again sink his teeth into an opponent, and after replays caught the action on camera, a ban was in the pipeline with FIFA confirming they were looking into the incident.

It was then announced yesterday that the Uruguayan and Liverpool striker would miss the next nine Uruguay matches and would also be banned from ANY football activity for four months, meaning he won’t play or train until nearly November.

However, despite being bitten by Suarez, Chiellini believes FIFA have been too harsh on the 27-year-old, and has claimed the ban is too excessive.

“Now inside me there are no feelings of joy, revenge or anger against Suarez for an incident, which happened on the pitch and is done.

“There only remains the anger and the disappointment about the match. At the moment, my only thought is for Luis and his family, because they will face a very difficult period.

“I have always unequivocally considered the disciplinary interventions by the competent bodies, but at the same time I believe the proposed formula is excessive.

“I sincerely hope he will be allowed to stay close to his teammates during the games, because such a ban is really alienating for a player.”
