Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has taken to Twitter to apologise to his family, friends and Arsenal Football Club for his hotel meeting with international model Celia Kay. Giroud has attempted to clear up the confusion and mess left behind regarding his personal life by insisting he has not commited adultery. The Frenchman has been forced to speak out after a picture of him, taken by Kay, wearing very little was published in a French national newspaper and has since swept the internet. The incident took place on February 1st, the night before Arsenal’s home game with Crystal Palace.
But Giroud took to his Twitter account to apologise: ‘Ultimate precision with respect to my apologies… Yes I made a mistake but I have not commited adultery! Things are clear…’
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that disciplinary action would be taken against Giroud. He said, “It is an internal matter but I do not want to comment publicly because I respect his privacy.”
Giroud also apologised to his wife Jennifer- who also has a daughter named Jade- and his club,
“I apologise to my wife, family, friends, my manager and the Arsenal fans.”
Kay, who models for international magazines such as Maxim and FHM, was pictured arriving at the hotel in Canary Wharf at 12.50am and leaving at 3.04 that night. She insists that nothing happened between them, and Giroud may avoid a fine from the club due to this claim. The Gunners had planned to fine the 6ft 4in striker £230,000 but backed off after his denial.
