Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi could be set to leave St James Park this Summer once his contract expires.
The Nigerian’s current deal expires at the end of this season and he has confirmed that no renewal talks are in the pipeline with the club, and despite the thought of leaving the clup upsetting him, he knows that his future is unclear.
The 32-year-old has made over 300 appearances for The Magpies and has been at the club well over a decade, and he knows that when it’s time to leave the club, it will be a sad moment in his career.
“After the summer, my future is unclear,” he told the Shields Gazette.
“Basically, I’ll do what I’ve always done. Like I’ve always said, I’ve never taken it (playing for Newcastle) for granted. Every time I step on that pitch, I relish it.
“When it does finally end, it’ll be a sad moment, but at the moment my focus is trying to help this club.
“That’s what I’ve always tried to do, and that will never change.”
