Gus Poyet is going to tempt John Terry with a massive payday to end his career over in China.
Former Chelsea midfielder Poyet was yesterday confirmed as the new boss of Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua and is exploring the possibility of making Terry his first signing.
Standard Sport is reporting that John Terry is open to a move to China depending on the financial package on offer. His first preference is to stay at Stamford Bridge.
“I still want to play for a couple more years, whether that is at Chelsea or somewhere abroad, I don’t know,” Terry said earlier this week. “It’s an option. I am contracted to Chelsea for this season and then will see after that. I’m doing my coaching badges. I don’t know if I want to be a coach but I want to do my badges and pass.”
Terry took a massive pay cut to agree his last Chelsea deal but could be expected to get a huge increase on his present £50,000-a-week wage should he agree a switch to Shanghai.
