Former Manchester United and Manchester City midfielder Owen Hargreaves has heaped praise on Phil Foden, comparing him to the Red Devils great Paul Scholes.
Phil Foden, an academy graduate at the Etihad, is currently taking his first steps at becoming a regular under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. The 20-year-old is yet to start a Premier League game but was handed a start in the Champions League in the Citizens’ match against Atlanta last night.
Hargreaves apparently thinks that Foden is the heir to David Silva’s throne at Man City and has let it known by comparing him to midfield maestro Paul Scholes.
“He’s a super player, he’s really, really special,” said Hargreaves.
“He’s a little bit like Paul Scholes in the sense he sees the game one or two steps ahead.”
“That’s his gift, he’s always been that way. He’s just going to take Silva’s spot when he leaves.”
