Toby Maguire has revealed English players were furious at each other at the interval following a very average performance in the first half against Switzerland in the UEFA Nations League.

Marcus Rashford netted his second goal in as many matches as the Three Lions survived a scare against the Swiss. Rashford was one of the few players who showed intent on the pitch otherwise it could have been an embarrassing moment for Gareth Southgate.

England came into the game following their 2-1 loss against Spain and the gaffer made a number of changes to the starting lineup to provide game time to a number of outfield players.

The Three Lions had a very poor first half and they were very lucky not to concede a goal. The Leicester City defender said they were hurling bad words at the halftime. “A few words were spoken between the boys (at half-time).

“All of us, we weren’t happy with the performance at half-time.

“We gave them too much respect on the ball. The gaffer had a stern word with us and the second half was much better.

“We did (play into trouble) early on, but the gaffer told us we want to try and be confident by doing that. Second half we tried and we did a lot better than in the first half.”
