Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain has confirmed that he will remain at the Italian Serie A side.
The Argentine striker was rumoured to be linked with a move to Spanish La Liga side Barcelona, with Lionel Messi speaking out in the Spanish press that he would welcome a move to his team mate.
And the 26 year old Higuain, who scorec 17 goals in Serie A last season has spoken out to the Italian media, that he plans to remain in Naples.
He said to www.tuttomercatoweb.com: ‘I am really grateful to Leo (Messi) for his kind words but I have a contract with Napoli that makes me very happy.
‘The Partenopei club (Napoli) has always treated me very well since I arrived there.’
Higuain almost signed for Arsenal last summer, however opted for the Italian move to Napoli at the last minute. Chelsea were also sniffing around for his signature.
