Holtby could see Spurs exit

Tottenham, following the departure of manager Andre Villas Boas, are improving under new manager Tim Sherwood and their last league win away at Manchester United may have convinced some large players to stay.

Holtby has struggled to gain regular first team football since joining Spurs from Schalke last January and has made just 6 starts this season in the league. Despite this, he has still managed 3 goals and has provided 9 assists so the midfielder is keen to show boss Tim Sherwood he is worthy of a place.

However, the 23 year-old has still not ruled out a move back to the Bundesliga or Schalke in particular.

“I would never rule out a return to the Bundesliga, especially to Schalke, where I had a great time, even though it might have come across differently during my move a year ago,” Holtby said.

“There is a big competition for a first-team spot and, although I have had rather rare appearances, I have gained nine assists and three goals thus far this term.”

A host of new arrivals this January could see other players on their way out of White Hart Lane as Spurs are reportedly linked with Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic. But for Holtby, the future remains uncertain as the German youngster continues to watch his side from the sidelines.
