Jose Mourinho says that he has a future without Manchester United

Jose Mourinho was at the receiving end of widespread criticism from the fans and the media after Manchester United’s lacklustre start to the season. He was living on borrowed time and the 3-1 humiliation at the hands of Liverpool was enough for the board to pull the trigger on the Special One.

United have appointed their legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the interim manager until the end of the season, bringing him to Old Trafford on a special request from Molde where he was at the helm of affairs.

A new full-time manager will be appointed at the end of the season but Solskjaer has a massive rebuilding job in his hands. The Red Devils are currently 6th in the standings, 19 points behind leaders Liverpool and 11 shy of fourth-place Chelsea. The Club’s Champions League hopes are hanging by a thread and they will need a rapid turnaround of fortunes under their new manager to secure a top-four finish.

Mourinho spoke for the first time publicly on Wednesday – shortly after United had confirmed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as his replacement on an interim basis – and the 55-year-old stressed he was ready to move on.

“I don’t change,” he told Sky Sports News.

“What I did when I left Chelsea for example is the same that I’m going to do now.

“I keep the good things and I don’t speak about anything that happened in the club. We could speak about so many good things, we could speak about not as good, but that’s not me.

“It’s finished. Manchester United has a future without me and I have a future without Manchester United.”
