Serie A side want player in return for Mateo Kovacic

Inter Milan have reportedly told Liverpool that they would like a player in return for Mateo Kovacic after the two parties are still yet to agree on a fee.

According to reports, the Croatian midfielder has already agreed personal terms with The Reds ahead of a Summer move, but the two clubs are still yet to reach an agreement for a transfer fee.

Previous Bids Rejected

Liverpool have reportedly had a ÂŁ15million bid turned down for the Croat, who they deem a perfect replacement for Steven Gerrard, and it’s now reported that Inter are keen on doing a player-swap deal.

It’s not yet understood whether they’d want a player + cash, but they are set to tell the Premier League outfit that they’d want a player thrown in as part of the deal.

Player Wanted in Return

Italian paper Tuttosport are claiming that Inter would want one of; Fabio Borini, Martin Skrtel or Lucas Leiva as part of the Kovacic deal.

It’s believed Liverpool would ideally see Borini leave the club, after they signed Danny Ings from Burnley yesterday, but with both Skrtel and Lucas reportedly unsettled at Anfield, any one of the three could leave.

If a player is included in the deal, it would mean Liverpool would pay less for the transfer, but the two teams are still yet to come to an agreement despite the player already accepting personal terms.

Third Summer Arrival

If The Reds can get the deal over the line, it would be their third Summer signing already, following Ings and James Milner, who have both joined on a free transfer.
