Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that it will be hard for his side to catch table-toppers Chelsea after they fell four points behind them at the weekend.

A 1-0 loss to Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium has seen Wenger’s men lose serious ground on their title-rivals, and even dropped to third in the league behind Liverpool.

Both Liverpool and Chelsea hit three goals during their away fixture against Fulham and Southampton respectively, and Wenger knows that it will be tough for his side to win the league now.

When asked about whether or not they can catch Chelsea, Wenger said: “We cannot say it’s easy.

“It is difficult, but I expected them to win at Fulham.”

The Frenchman was then asked about whether or not his side drop point at crucial stages, and Wenger had this to say: “I would say look at our results at the crucial point in the season and you would be surprised.

“Somebody says something that is not checked and everyone repeats it and it becomes an opinion, even if the facts don’t show it.

“Our end of season has always been very strong.”
